Please read these guidelines carefully before preparing your manuscript. Submissions that do not conform to these instructions may be returned without review.

🎯 1. Scope & Editorial Policy

The International Journal of Dental Implants & Research (IJDIR) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing the science and practice of dental implantology and related disciplines. We welcome original, unpublished research that has not been submitted elsewhere simultaneously.

Manuscripts are accepted in the following subject areas:

✍️ 3. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must be written in English, typed in 12-point Times New Roman, double-spaced, with margins of at least 2.5 cm. Submit two separate files:

IJDIR uses double-blind peer review. Author names and affiliations must not appear in File II (the main text). All author information is confined to the Title Page (File I).

Tables should be created within Word (not as images), numbered consecutively (Table 1, Table 2…), and have a concise descriptive title above each table.

Figures should be numbered consecutively (Figure 1, Figure 2…) and submitted as separate high-resolution image files along with the manuscript. Legends should be included at the end of the manuscript.

References must be numbered consecutively in the order first mentioned in the text. Identify references in the text, tables, and legends by Arabic numerals in superscript. References must conform to the Vancouver style, with journal titles abbreviated as per Index Medicus.

βš–οΈ 6. Ethics, Authorship & Consent

Ethics: For studies involving human subjects, a statement of ethical committee approval, informed consent, and adherence to the Declaration of Helsinki (2013) is mandatory. For animal studies, institutional guidelines and IAEC approval must be stated. Patient consent is required for any identifiable material.

Authorship must comply with ICMJE guidelines, requiring all of the following:

  1. Substantial contribution to conception, design, data acquisition, or analysis/interpretation.
  2. Drafting or critical revision for important intellectual content.
  3. Final approval of the version to be published.
  • Author order must be a joint decision; changes post-submission require written consent of all authors.
  • Original research: max 6 authors; Case reports/Reviews: max 4; Short communications: max 3. Justification required to exceed these limits.
  • Authorship changes must be formally notified to the editorial office.

Conflicts of Interest: All authors must disclose financial or personal relationships that may influence the work (funding, employment, stock ownership, patents, consulting fees, etc.). If none, explicitly state: "The authors declare no conflicts of interest." Each author must also submit a signed disclosure form.

Acknowledgements: Recognize contributions that do not qualify for authorship (e.g., technical help, data collection). Include funding sources. Written consent is required for named individuals.

🚫 Research Misconduct

IJDIR has a zero-tolerance policy for fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism. Any manuscript found to violate ethical standards will be immediately rejected and reported to the authors' institutions.

πŸ” 7. Plagiarism Policy

All submissions are screened for plagiarism using standard software. Manuscripts with plagiarism will be rejected immediately.

Authors retain copyright of their articles. Articles are published under an open-access license, permitting non-commercial use, distribution, and reproduction, provided proper citation of the original work.

πŸ”¬ 8. Peer Review Process

IJDIR operates a double-blind peer review process β€” authors and reviewers remain anonymous. All manuscripts are:

  1. Acknowledged upon receipt.
  2. Screened for originality, quality, and suitability for the journal. Articles not meeting standards may be declined at this stage.
  3. Subjected to external double-blind peer review if found suitable.
  4. Evaluated by the editorial board, who recommend acceptance, revision, or rejection based on reviewers' comments.

Authors may suggest 2–3 potential reviewers (not affiliated with their institution), but the final decision rests with the editor. Revised manuscripts must include a point-by-point response to reviewers' comments.

πŸ”Ž 11. Guidelines for Systematic Reviews, Meta-Analyses & Umbrella Reviews

Scope: Manuscripts must be directly relevant to oral implantology (implant surgery and prosthodontics, peri-implant biology and diseases, biomaterials and surface modifications, digital implant dentistry, patient-reported outcomes and clinical decision-making) and must provide clear clinical implications for implant practice.

Reporting Standards: Authors must comply with PRISMA 2020 for systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and PRISMA-Umbrella or JBI Umbrella Review Guidelines for umbrella reviews. A completed PRISMA checklist must be submitted as supplementary material.

Protocol Registration: Prospective registration in PROSPERO, Open Science Framework (OSF), or equivalent is strongly recommended. The registration number must be reported in the Methods section. If not registered, authors must explicitly state this and provide justification.

  • Must include only systematic reviews and/or meta-analyses; exclude narrative reviews, case reports, and clinical guidelines.
  • PECO framework used; methodological quality assessed using AMSTAR 2 (report High/Moderate/Low/Critically low confidence ratings).
  • Narrative synthesis mandatory; re-meta-analysis of pooled data discouraged unless clearly justified.
  • Overlap of primary studies across included reviews must be acknowledged.
