Editors' Responsibilities
The Editor-in-Chief and editorial board of IJDIR are responsible for maintaining the integrity of the academic record. Their responsibilities include:
- Fair evaluation: All submitted manuscripts are assessed solely on their intellectual merit, regardless of the authors' race, gender, nationality, religious beliefs, or institutional affiliation.
- Confidentiality: Editors must keep all information about submitted manuscripts confidential and not disclose details to anyone other than the authors, reviewers, and relevant editorial staff.
- Conflict of interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest (personal, financial, or professional).
- Timely decisions: Editors are responsible for ensuring that peer review is conducted fairly and within reasonable timeframes.
- Publishing corrections: Editors must publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when necessary.
Reviewers' Responsibilities
- Contribution to editorial decisions: Peer review assists editors in making decisions. Reviewers should notify the editor promptly if they feel unqualified to review or cannot meet the deadline.
- Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review are confidential documents. Reviewers must not share or discuss them without authorisation from the editor.
- Objectivity: Reviews must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is not appropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
- Acknowledgement of sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work not cited by the authors and alert the editor to any substantial similarity with other known published work.
- Conflict of interest: Reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves if necessary.
Authors' Responsibilities
- Originality: Authors must certify that their submitted work is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere simultaneously.
- Accurate reporting: Authors must present an accurate account of their research. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour.
- Authorship: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.
- Data access and retention: Authors should be prepared to provide raw data for editorial review if requested and retain such data for a reasonable period.
- Disclosure and conflicts of interest: All sources of financial support must be disclosed. Potential conflicts of interest must be declared.
- Fundamental errors: Authors are obligated to promptly notify the editor if they discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work.
🚫 Unacceptable Practices
Ghost authorship, gift authorship, fabrication of data, falsification of results, and image manipulation are all forms of research misconduct that will result in immediate rejection and reporting to the authors' institutions.
